{ graphic goodness }

living in the over-the-top sensory experience that is new york city makes me appreciate coming home to a calming palette of black and white. but just because i like to keep the spectrum simple, doesn't mean i want it minimal. au contraire! bold, graphic pattern radiates energy ~ and i love the verve this new houndstooth rug from nuLOOM has injected into my living space. i've also bought a few more striped poufs since THIS POST ~ they're like little candies scattered all about my place! super handy for impromptu entertaining, plus i figure a gal can never have too much of a fun thing.

{ helmut lang jacket (worn in top pic ~ find a more affordable version of it HERE), gifted victoria's secret dress (similar option HERE), zara shoes // striped moroccan pouf, nuLOOM rug }

{ hi/lo }

thanks to aimee's blog, i recently became aware of style at home's high/low feature, in which the same room is decorated in nearly-identical ways, once with and once without a real-world budget. if the rooms above weren't labeled, would you automatically know which is the high-cost and which is the low? it's a fascinating reminder that good design can come at any price ~ all you have to do is focus on a goal and be determined to find affordable solutions. they're out there!

{ did you see } my tweets

i just wrapped an admittedly obnoxiously-awesome weekend, spent staying in kelly wearstler's malibu beach house, styling and appearing in her resort 2012 collection campaign ~ as shot by my friend jamie. if you follow me on twitter, you're probably already annoyed by the awesomeness of this experience. if not, just wait! we shot things i didn't know were possible. serious surprises coming soon...

anyway, the above shots were made in her house the day i arrived. i wore tiffany sunnies, a zara vest, a white + warren sweater, a juicy couture bag, a kelly wearstler skirt, and alexander wang shoes. and then i changed into THIS.

{ currently } at home

i'm constantly, subtly rearranging my spaces. here's the living room, circa yesterday afternoon. newest updates include: turning the lucite desk-cum-dining-table base on its side, repurposing the piece into a coffee table // fresh lampshades // replacing my worn-to-shreds barcelona chair with a cozy black velvet wingback // picking this delightful footstool up on amazon.com.

{ citrine dream }

this space manages to be modern and minimal, without abandoning lush and layered. and the way they've worked in color ~ letting yellows (including mustard, flax and brass) be the dominant hue ~ is nothing short of masterful.

{ new eyes }

i posted about lauren santo domingo's apartment HERE, and was excited to again spy some of the same pieces (like that adorable bulldog!) through the covetuer's lens last week ~ it's fun to see a home evolve, its contents reinterpreted from a fresh perspective:

{ saturation }

can't stop daydreaming about the super-saturated (but still easygoing) moodiness of interior designer abigail ahern's london digs (as featured this week on the selby / her lamps also appeared in this post). i'm on the market for a few apartment updates of my own ~ a new chair for the living room, some fresh lamp shades, and a slimmer bed ~ and this space is giving me all sorts of ideas.

if you have any genius suggestions for where to source these necessities really quickly, please let me know in the comments! ye olde glamour den is being shot again in a few weeks and i'd love to implement these updates in anticipation.

{ the fancy }

{ pentax camera, chanel clutch, new york times newsprint-scented candle, alexander mcqueen card case, iwona ludyga ring, ny + la tables, emerson made jacket, arne jacobsen chair // all via the fancy }

having a birthday (like i did yesterday) means you get at least a month's week's worth of acceptable excuses to senselessly shop for yourself. which further means, this is the is the wrong time for me to get into the fancy ~ a highly-dangerous site for aesthetically-obsessed online lurkers like myself.

also bolstering my desire to buy stuff? watching american pickers on netflix! are you into it too?
