{ a tiffany holiday }

as i mentioned to you HERE, i'm currently working with tiffany & co as their eyewear ambassador ~ which means that this holiday season, all my girlfriends can look forward to a little blue box under their tree from me!!

but first, a few treats for myself were obviously in order:

you've seen me wearing the gold aviators like crazy lately (examples here, here, here, here and here), so i acquired the rectangular jazz style (above right) to mix my go-to game up a bit. i love that their arms are dotted with tiffany-blue crystals ~ it's such a wonderfully subtle touch of luxury. i also had several sunglass styles turned into prescription spectacles. you saw me wear one of them (the butterfly style, whose lenses i replaced with a super-light grey tint) yesterday, and i'm also loving my new script-inspired cat eyes (above left) and key-trimmed glasses (below):

i'm planning to dazzle my friends (who are probably reading this. darn) with the pièce de résistance of tiffany's holiday offerings: the garden cat eye style (below, in tortoise and ocean blue). oversized, dramatic, and finished with crystal-packed, floral filigree arms, it's easy to see that they were inspired by the diamond brooches in tiffany's archives. they're pretty spectacular:

{ numero } uno

i've gotten an insane amount of wear out of my karen walker 'number one' sunnies. to prove it, here are just a few of the many posts i've made wearing them:

that's why, when i saw that they've finally been restocked online, i knew it was my duty to share the news with you. buy them HERE (or HERE!) before they're sold out again ~ and enjoy them as much as i have!!

{ dinner } at tiffany's

{ i wore: tiffany earrings, necklaces and bracelets (on loan for the evening), gifted kimberly taylor dress (worn as a top), hyde belt, zara skirt (last seen HERE), tiffany clutch (recently seen HERE), manolo blahnik shoes (seen in my kitchen in THIS POST // i found a similar pair for you HERE) }

last thursday night i had the extremely unique privilege of hosting a dinner party at the newly-redesigned tiffany suite at the st. regis hotel in new york. as a fervent fan of both interior design (especially inside swanky hotels! my, how i adore them.) and jewelry (speaking of swanky, i was subtly dripping in borrowed diamonds all night. i loved it.), it was truly like living in a dream.

i was entrusted with this honor as tiffany's newly-appointed eyewear ambassador, and as such i invited a few fellow online scribes to make themselves at home with me there. we celebrated the launch of their latest frames (i've been wearing THIS PAIR nonstop ever since), and were treated to manicures courtesy of deborah lippman, endlessly flowing champagne, and a decadent dinner laid out on tiffany settings by tuxedoed waiters. a girl could really get used to this kind of life!

thank you so much to my friends at tiffany for this unforgettable experience, and to jamie, elana, heather, karla, tracey, sydne, carolyn, julie, and anya for graciously attending. of course i tweeted my whole way through, and shared a few extra instagram pics on facebook too!!

{ what goes round }

last winter, i bought myself a cool pair of juicy couture sunnies, during an in-store event they threw for erin fetherston. they were the last pair in stock, and i was so happy to have snagged them. the next day, however, i wore them to a girlfriend's house. she fell hard for them, and they looked so cute on her that i had to let her keep them. sure, i adored them as well, but you can't hold on to things too tightly; sometimes they're just meant for someone else.

anyway, fast forward to tuesday night, when i attended yet another lovely juicy event, this time at the comapny's new york showroom. as i was leaving, my generous hosts urged me to pick out a pair of sunnies to take home with me, their treat. much to my delight, they had reissued the style i fell for so many months ago! i accepted them with gratitude and glee, happy to be unexpectedly reunited at last!!

{ westward bound }

you've probably noticed me griping about the weather lately; it's been an especially long winter in new york. luckily, i have a quick trip to california booked for next month, and i'm looking at the planning of it as an opportunity to invest in a few accessory updates, which will help carry my existing wardrobe into the impending spring. usually i (irritatingly) wait till september to find the perfect pair of flat sandals ~ but this year i'm happily embracing a more proactive approach. here are a few things i'm currently stalking online ~ in fact, several of the sandals and sunnies are already on order:

{ above: karen walker 'number one' sunnies ($180), loeffler randall 'ondine' sandal ($325), j.crew 'silvana' sandal ($98) }

{ above: sam edelman 'gigi' sandal ($60), karen walker 'the village' sunnies ($210) }

{ above: house of harlow 'chelsea' sunnies ($138), michael kors 'zen' sandal ($150), cydwoq 'heli' sandal }

{ reading my mind }

loving this two-page excerpt, scanned from the latest urban outfitters catalogue. featuring statement sunnies, do-it-yourself headwraps, silken blouses and just-enough jewelry, it almost perfectly epitomizes all things glamourai!!

{ sunnies shining }

{ pics courtesy of stylecaster (more images on their site!) }

at the not-so-bitter end of this photoshoot, lori goldstein and i were gabbing about our shared obsession with all styles of sunnies. she decided it would be fun to have me try on just about every pair in the studio ~ and of course i couldn't say no! shoji wanted in on the fun, and thus a second, impromptu shoot had suddenly begun: click, click, change! click, click, CHANGE! lori was thrusting sunnies in my face, shoji was snapping away, and i was just trying to keep up!!

you gotta love people who, even after years in the fashion industry, are still able to be spontaneous and joyful about it all. which reminds me, did everyone catch lori's closet tour on stylelikeu? it's so, so good (don't forget, you saw it here first!).

{ need it } two-in-one sunnies

although i already own more sunglasses than the average gal, this is an area where i feel one can never have too much. and yet, it's possible that dolce + gabbana's new double-trouble sunnies could actually complete my collection. with them, what more would i need?

{ runway to reality }

in a pre-fashion week talk at parsons, donna karan called into question the industry-standard, several-month lapse between when runway collections are streamed across the world and when they are shipped into stores. she said: "i don’t want the consumer to see next week what is going to be in stores in fall, because it’s confusing... in the movie industry, the consumer doesn’t know about the movies until they’re ready to come out. why do we give [them] so much information about fashion six or seven months beforehand? it makes no sense to me.”

{ original images via style.com }
i too can testify that the system is flawed: mere moments after these peepers premiered on prada's winter runway, i forgot all about wanting the wangs (and it was only hours since i'd posted them). fashion sure is a fair-weather friend.

{ wings like wang's }

like fellow sunglass lovers the world over, i've been looking forward to the creeping return of cat's eye shapes for a few seasons now, and yelped with glee when alexander wang launched the year's punk-prettiest pair on his spring 2010 catwalk.

the originals, of course, sold out pretty quickly, so i had to get creative. i found these look-alikes on ebay (don't worry, they have more!):

fortunately, when they arrived, i learned the lens is much darker than it appears in this pic, and while they're not as extreme as the real thing, methinks they'll do until net-a-porter (fingers crossed) restocks!
