{ little tramp }

{ vintage ray-ban sunnies, kelly framel necklace, helmut lang blazer, forever21 tank, alice+olivia pants, primary clutch, prada shoes }

this is one of my favorite outfits lately; the way that it sits at the intersection of layered-but-subtle, tailored-but-easy, and dressed-up-but-dressed-down is so my speed. also, i think these shoes really need to come out more often.

{ party in the back }

just as we attempted to shoot a few photos, humongous, menacing, unexpected raindrops suddenly appeared (as evidenced by my shirt). immediately running for cover was the only option, so it was lucky that my intrepid photographer managed to snap the beautiful back of this blouse as i fled for safety.

{ a stylish staycation }

this season for fashion week, the w hotels generously offered me a room in their union square location (smack dab in the middle of nyc), to more conveniently bounce around town to my many shows, meetings and parties.

i figured it would make for a fun mini-retreat ~ but underestimated just how much i would appreciate having a centralized changing room all week long (not to mention maid service and other ammenities!!).

in a week where i'm simply too busy to take proper care of myself (or make sure there's food in the fridge!), being coddled by an uber-comfy hotel (with an extensive menu of delicious room service options) has been a lifesaver. i owe them a very, very big thank you!

these photos were taken in their glamorous, garden-party-ready bar (aka my week-long meeting room), which happened to perfectly match these fun, floral palazzo pants. what stylistic serendipity!

{ tom ford 'anouk' sunnies (seen in 2nd pic), vintage boy's blazer, club monaco blouse (last seen HERE), gifted modcloth pants (i was lusting after them HERE), prada shoes (seen in better detail HERE), michael kors watch, vintage rings }

{ mademoiselle } en jeans

these vogue spain scans of vanessa paradis wearing ripe white tops and embellished tweed jackets, incongruously combined with dilapidated dungarees...

...inspired me to recently wear this jacket with a favorite bowtie top and too-big, moth-eaten jeans:

what do you think, is it a fitting tribute??

{ tom ford anouk sunnies, elie tahari for neiman marcus jacket (recently seen HERE), jean paul gaultier top, men's calvin klein jeans, kenzo for wolford stockings, prada shoes (i've had 'em forever, but just rediscovered them in my studio last week!) }

{ reliably styleable }

today, i present (a bit bittersweetly) my fourth and final costume, as inspired by my partnership with ralph lauren and the big pony collection scents. over the course of this collaboration, i've channeled sporty, seductive, adventurous ~ and today's motivation is stylishness!

now, labeling one's own outfit as being stylish can feel unnervingly presumptuous, so i decided to stick simply with those things i consider to be stalwarts of my own personal style. i always feel at ease in: bow-tie blouses, subtly textured layers, slim-fit, collarless jackets, slouchily tailored trousers, and classic gold pumps:

this collaboration's finishing scent-spiration, as i mentioned in THIS POST, is the collection's most abstracted. it mixes energizing hits of kyarawood and mandarin ~ essences i attempted to recall in the colors of this ensemble (ie: woody taupes met with saffron pops)!

while the ensemble itself felt inherently my style, i loved stumbling across this flag-mural garage art ~ as it seemed so rightly ralph lauren! it felt like an appropriate location from which to conclude the collision of our visions.

{ vintage yves saint laurent sunnies, gifted hare+hart leather trench (also seen HERE), borrowed ralph lauren cashmere cardigan and printed pussy-bow blouse, michael kors watch, prada pants, vintage clutch, miu miu bird brooch, manolo blahnik pumps }

if you'd like to win your own bottle of this stylish scent, please leave a comment below, letting me know what you consider to be your own style standbys. and please give a congratulatory clap to hilaryinspired*, who is the lucky winner** of scent number three!

{ costume of the day } all i wanna wear

i keep buying new blazers, thinking they'll supplement the reliability of this vintage one in my costumeration rotation, but so far none have proven to be sufficiently up to snuff. some pieces are just always exactly what you need, you know?

these pants are quickly gaining similarly hallowed status in my wardrobe. i'll admit i may even have slept in them a time or two! i wonder if they come in other colors? must find out immediately.

i recently wore both these treasured staples with a vintage scarf-turned-turban (which i've become increasingly dependent on as i grow out my hair), my new favorite sunnies (the same style i used to accessorize this shoot), and what's sure to become this season's go-to cross-body carryall (uncovered over the weekend in a new-found vintage store!).

{ vintage scarf (tied into a turban), prada sunnies, vintage firenza jacket, alice+olivia chain-trimmed tank (gifted when i attended their SS11 show) & pants, vintage gucci bag, vintage lea stein cat brooch, manolo blahnik shoes }

{ costume of the day } gothicschoolgirl

{ d+g sunnies, topshop earrings, self-designed necklace, vintage bracelets + ring, cardigan seen HERE, rugby dress, hue socks, prada jacquard booties }

so far, these boots are proving to be my favorite piece of the season (i also wore them HERE, but you really couldn't see them). they remind me of something that would belong in the wardrobes of louis xiv or marie antoinette (as interpreted by wednesday addams)!

speaking of optimal opulence, i've recently added some new jewels to the shop ~ and quite a few others are now on sale!! check it all out HERE.

{ costume of the day } citizen/bazaar

it was nice to run into jason from citizen couture last week during the fashion madness at lincoln center. not long ago, jason dared to trade in his corporate job and pursue a more impassioned life in fashion. clearly, the risk paid off ~ he's currently shooting streetstyle for harper's bazaar! i met him last winter when we shot THIS POST together, and am thrilled to watch his success grow. we only had a moment to chat, but he managed to snap this picture of me before jetting off to europe for the rest of fashion month:

{ photo by jason jean for harpersbazaar.com // wearing: vintage ysl sunnies, self-designed earrings + necklace, chloe blouse (last seen HERE), vintage bracelets + rings, borrowed follis bag, miu miu pants (i pledged allegiance to them HERE), prada boots (barely visible, but they may be getting their own post pretty soon!) }

{ costume of the day } chiffonery

thank you to everyone for the sweet birthday wishes! i've never been too big on birthdays, except that now my birthday also marks the birth of this blog ~ and that makes the day extra special!! indeed, theglamourai.com turned two this week. it's been such a fun ride, and i can't wait to see what the coming years will bring; thanks for sticking with me!

now, about my outfit: i found this dress at beacon's closet in williamsburg, brooklyn ~ one of my favorite secondhand haunts. it's basically a big chiffon sack, but with the prettiest little details. it's very languid and raw, and i think quite nice for these late summer days.

this necklace is one i'll never part with ~ though wherever i wear it, strangers inevitably try to talk it off me. it's quite the conversation starter! thus, i've been working on some similar pieces for the store. keep a close eye open for those ~ they're coming soon!

{ antique rayban sunnies, the glamourai brass bauble bib, unknown secondhand dress, jean yu slip, vintage clutch + miu miu swallow brooch, prada shoes }

{ a few favorite things }

silken shirts, so-soft chantilly trim, scarab jewels, prada heels, and the colors of sunset. the fun thing about fashion is finding ways to delight in all of them, all at once, all day long.

{ antique ray ban sunnies, F21 earrings, self-designed necklace (similar styles now available at shrimpton couture!), zara blouse, vintage bracelets + rings, F21 skirt, prada shoes }

which favorite things will you find any reason to wear?
