{ boots + brollies }

{ miu miu hat (yep, i just had to buy it), david yurman earrings + necklace (on loan for a shoot, but i couldn't resist test driving them myself!), halston heritage trench (last seen HERE), opening ceremony sweater (similar HERE), gifted joie elephant print shirt, vintage polkadot skirt, anya hindmarch bag (last seen at fashion week) navy hue tights, bottega veneta boots (recently seen HERE), samsonite umbrella }

yesterday was gloomy and grey ~ meaning of course that i was expected all over town, with hiding out in bed a definite non-option. whenever that happens, i'm grateful for the day i decided to invest in a pair of rainboots pretty enough for meetings ~ and an umbrella to match! speaking of these kicks, i recently wore the same pair HERE, but do you also remember them from way back when?!

and below, some ideas for how you can get the look right now, should you be so inclined:

GREY: buckled hunter boots and marc by marc jacobs panther print umbrella // ORANGE: hunter lace-up boots and shed rain umbrella // BLACK: juicy couture boots and swaine adeney brigg umbrella // BROWN: timberland boots and marc by marc jacobs animal print umbrella

{ that dress }

{ karen walker sunnies, kelly framel jewelry (the tangerine tiki necklace is available now!), helmut lang jacket (last seen HERE), alythea bra courtesy of modcloth, chloe sevigny x opening ceremony dress, rebecca minkoff clutch (last seen HERE), alexander wang shoes (recently seen HERE and HERE) }

remember that dress i mentioned yesterday? well here it is, in one of the many, many ways i've worn it so far this summer. incidentally, this ensemble simultaneously features the same sunnies, blazer and shoes i wore HERE ~ as i get older (and more assured of my own style) i feel like i'm getting better at predicting which pieces i'll get a ton of wear out of, and are therefore worth investing in. this outfit's full of them!!

i'd like to strongly suggest that any of you who love leopard print and/or easy dresses as much as i do should immediately order up this chloe sevigny for opening ceremony frock, before they're all sold out and it's simply too late. i snagged it in its already-gone polka dot iteration, and it's quickly proven to be such a wardrobe workhorse: something you can wear to work, the laundromat, a cocktail party, and even to bed. i ordered mine an extra size up for increased slouchiness, and other than my helmut lang blazers and j.f + son shorts (oh, and maybe my wang wedges), it's the best money i've spent this season.

while we're on the topic, check out THIS ARTICLE from the weekend's new york times, which examines the enduring allure of the always-lovely ms. sevigny.
