with halloween fast approaching and many friends still scrambling for inspiration, i thought it would be fun to revisit a few of my favorite costumes from years past:

while i was back home for a bit, i dug through some old childhood photos in what my mother calls 'the bowl of shame.' basically, it's anything that could prove embarassing should her children bring home suitors she'd rather scare away. here are a few of the less harrowing postcards from my childhood:



i'm pretty sure i was always a bit of a glamourpuss. apparently i used to throw hissy fits when mom would approach me with pants, screaming: "I ONLY WEAR DRESSES!" clearly, very little has changed.

this weekend was spent in wimberley, texas, in honor of easter and my grandfather's 75th birthday. our family is incredibly close; it's always a joy to be together. as i mentioned last christmas, my sister and i love to celebrate such occasions by coordinating our outfits. a show of solidarity, if you will. so when she arrived in a silk chiffon breton riff from banana republic, i had no choice but to pull this version out of my suitcase as well. sisters match!
