{ let's go there together }

in nearly all things aesthetic, i'm immediately decisive ~ insomuch that, when i see what i like, i buy/choose/wear it and move on. unfortunately, i've learned that when it comes to decorating, it sometimes takes me a loooooooooong time to locate what i like. for instance, it's taken me four months to find coat hooks that i deem chic enough for my entryway. that's sort of absurd.

on the other hand, it only took me half a second to fall in love with vanessa traina's new york flat, as featured in this month's harper's bazaar (i mean, the bar is stocked with vintage gucci glassware!). swoon with me now:

I tend to be the same way in regard to aesthetic choices. However, Vanessa Traina's flat is a little too fur-heavy for my liking. And I am not even a PETA member...

I agree with comment 3, there is far too much fur. I love the chair in the last picture, though.

I am a little appalled at how many furs there are around. It's like a girlie hunting lodge. How can she sit and read a book with a dead tiger staring at her?

So gorgeous! Decor is so much harder, it's more of a commitment than fashion...

dead tiger. dead zebra. and a WARBONNET???? for real? i think this is highly problematic. what does this spoiled rich little girl even know about native american peoples? how could she abuse what is sacred to them? i am disgusted.

The bar and glass table are amazing, but I'd find it all much more desirable without the pelts, antler chair and tiger head - watch out little doggie, I don't think it's safe for you in there...

The antler chair, in the last picture of this post, is so unique. I would love to have a piece of furniture like that in my future home.

I think this place is amazing... True women just hired a decorator and an entire place looks just like an its made for the shoot, but defo has some great details and combos.
What I like is that the apartment seems to have a lot of masculine energy. And not in a butch way, but in a animalistic way!

Traina's apartment is obviously swoon-worthy, but I think it's distasteful to showcase so many pelts. I'm not an animal rights activist, but I find this offensive.

THE GLAMOURAI: said...

great comments guys! i definitely agree that it's a bit too pelt-heavy, but i still admire the combination of textures and the well-walked line between minimalistic and totally baroque.

i also just love when anyone is willing to look like they're living in a modern version of alexis colby's dynasty apartment!!

i actually really like the tiger's head. for the most part, i find taxedirmy to be quirky and unique- and there are a lot of weird vintage finds awaiting to be discovered at the flea market!
i love the wall of framed black and white prints

the first 4 photos are definitely swoon-worthy. I love the neutral color palette and the bright clean look. the fur bedspread however, would freak me out. the cute little doggie seems to like though, lol.

House fashion paralyzes me. I mean, it's like saying pick one outfit for the next five years! I've been looking for the perfect couch for at least that long! What would be your outfit if you had to wear the same one for five years?

it's incredible, isn't it!? so freaking luxurious. swooon.

Too self-consciously styled. Despite the dead animals everywhere there is nothing natural about this place. It looks like the whole set was purchased in a couple weeks--no sense of nostalgia, adaptation, or roots. oh well, when she's sick of this look, everything will be sold and she'll start again. LV table and "casually" placed LV purse suggest insecure person who needs labels to make an impression.

The flat is beautiful. But a dead tiger!? To use endangered, nearly exctinct species as rugs... What was she thinking? Is she thinking at all?

Waaaay too much death for me. I love your mixology but I would feel totally uncomfortable in this space.
