i don't usually get all gushy over american vogue, but this month's 'society slouch' story is just so, so perfect. i had to share my favorite photos!

after years of sticking to skirts and dresses, i'm loving the look of long, lean trousers this fall (i awkwardly alluded to this in my F21 video). also looking forward to: crisp white shirts, clever doses of color, more minimalist iterations of statement jewelry (including armfuls of super-sleek bangles!), and doll-face makeup. ooh, and i'm dizzily dreaming about the most perfect embellished jacket on earth (lanvin, below):

actually, i think everything about the above look is divine. combine polka-dots and feathery embroidery with 1970's swagger and 1920's undertones, and i am ALL IN!!
what's more, i've recently decided to start growing my hair back out, which is always agonizing, unattractive, and just plain uncomfotable! so i'm taking notes on the chicest chapeau options ~ and you know i totally adore the updated edie beale-esque scarf wrap below:

Gorgeous! I absolutely love it. The color comes right off the page (screen?) lol. And the accessories just bring it to life even more.

I definitely see a lot of your style in these images, although they may be slightly more minimalist! Good luck with growing your hair out.

I can totally see why this would be inspiring to you, the first look could easily be something you'd put on. I love the look. I can't wait for a wardrobe update.
This is the epitome of refined coolness. Your hair looks great so far! Headbands and scarves imagine are must accessories in the transition period!
wow those bright blue accents work gorgeously

These are such fabulous inspiring images
I think they took some inspiration from YOU, lady! Everything about that second photo reminds me of you...the hair, the pose, the face, the clothes...I'd even swear it was you if I didn't know better. I think they've been checkin your blog for sure. :)
LOVE.
LOL at the '70s swagger statement. I totally see that ;-)
I love the pixie hair on you, but I guess all things must change eventually. I know I always get in a weird mood and chop my hair off every other year which is odd because I really like it long. I guess I just get bored.
Last photo reminds me Catherine Baba. It's great!

Beautiful shoot. This model looks very like you. Xxxx
I had look twice as Caroline looks like just you (or you look just like Caroline) in the second photo. I was confused for a couple of seconds.
Looks are perfect! I can easily imagine wearing any of them! :)

lovely and it's soooo definitely inspired by your blog!
these photos are gorgeous, i love the retro vibe! and i agree, growing your hair out is such a pain isn't it? i am always in the process but i never get to the end, i always end up chopping it off again! :p
I love the last look -- everything about it is perfection.
Check out Eugenia Kim. She makes fabulously stylish chapeaux, head scarves, and headbands. And my favorite milliner is Boring Sidney on Etsy -- a small, woman-owned business with superior quality product.
Good luck growing out your hair!
Don't grow your hair, it's amazing and is making me seriously consider getting a crop!
These looks are SO you that I'm certain they must have been inspired BY you. Don'tcha think? Fab.
Gorgeous! Easy to see why you love these enough to learn how to use your scanner! :)
xx
If the third photo is Catherine Baba, the first photo is Twiggy!
Speaking of the fabulous Twiggy, who outshone all her long-haired contemporaries with her sculpted short hair, I'll be sad to see your hair looking like everyone else's. I love your current hairstyle which is so reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn (her shorthaired looks are the ones I like best). It's part of what makes your take on glamour and femininity unique and beyond trendy. But if you absolutely must grow your hair, take another look at the pics of Audrey with her hair a bit longer. She always seemed to have it up. I think you would look fabulous if you keep the short fringe, and pin the sides back and up, the way she would do! not to mention the headbands...
Most of all I love that little polka dot hat. Cute!
Echoing the sentiments of a few other people here, but I do think there's something very "you" about this shoot. The second look especially - didn't you used to have your hair in a very similar style to that?! xxx
I can't wait to see how you style your "transition hair", it is the worst!!

Mega love this editorial, the colours are amazing!
I can't wait to see what you do with your hair at different lengths, and what length you settle on!
The first photo is amazing, love the white-blue fur !
Love these photos! Thanks for sharing!!!
I love these photos! I feel your pain with growing the hair too, I used to have very short hair and kept cutting it because it was too hard to grow LOL! Keep going though, you'll get there soon! xo Danielle www.deathbyshoe.com
Great styling! I can see how this incorporates into your style.
Growing out hair can be awful but I'm sure you'll come up with chic ways to style it all throughout. Looking forward to seeing that.
oh yeah....they took their inspiration from YOUUUU! it's so obvious!! how flattering!!
you rock as always

Lovely! Just great ~
If I were stranded on a desert island and had just one thing to read for the rest of my life I would probably choose Vogue magazine, and not just any Vogue, but American Vogue. I don't speak French or Italian (or any other language, sadly) so I can't opine on the quality of writing within, but I do read British and American Vogue and I must say, our Vogue's quality of writing and editing is unparalleled (in my humble opinion). Of course we have Grace Coddington and Hamish Bowles and Anna Wintour ...
Everything in that editorial screams you... from the pieces to the styling to the posing...
I love that head scarf in the last photo. I wonder if some heat-bonded backing would let you shape a scarf as a hat, like in the photo...must try this...
I loved this spread in VOgue! And I'm thrilled you put it up. I was definitely thinking that it was a very "Glamourai" look.
You are fabulous! Thank you for keeping it up.
:)
That could so be you!
http://thelonelywifeproject.wordpress.com/
This editorial screams Glamouri! It is so totally you how funny is that!?
I KNOW! I saw this spread and it reminded me of why I fell in love with fashion and style in the first place (many years ago). This was the kind of spread Vogue did so well waaaay back in the late 80s; I used to carefully cut and paste (with actual scissors and tape) images just like these (mostly 20s,30s, 40s and 70s-esque looks) into this special alcove in my room--I guess it was my version of a mood board.
My fave is the last look, especially the scarf-hat. I think they used the model's hair ends as bangs too, which is really cool (or is it a wig? or did she cut actual bangs halfway through the shoot?).
I thought you were quite eloquent in your F21 feature.
Cheers,
SR
I agree with previous comments, photo 2 looks a lot like you! Not only the styling, but her hair cut and color are similar to your old one. It's all very Glamourai!
Cool photos. And I know it's none of my business, but I have really admired your look with the short hair. It suits you so well.
However, a woman's hair is her own domain and she can do whatever the heck she wants with it. :) I should know, been all lengths and colours myself.
So, the way I usually grow out my hair is to keep the nape of the neck short and clean until the rest of the hair reaches a more manageable bob-ish length. It looks cleaner and better that way. My sister has also adopted the idea and has gone from a very short pixie cut to this totally adorable surfer dude'ish haircut. By keeping the nape clean and short, it isn't as agonizing, really. :)
Best of luck with growing your hair out and I look forward to seeing how you let it influence your style (or not).

I love Love LOVE the first photo! The hints of blue are so chic, especially since they use my favourite colour-royal blue. I lovee bangles..can't get enough!

I think you should keep your hair short! It looks absolutely beautiful, reminds me of audrey hepburn. So classy and goes so well with the full skirts a la Prada & LV. That and it makes your eyes pop
OMG...I thought it was YOU at first...second pic down...the eyes..HOLY SMOKES!!! GOT ME!!! GORGEOUS! I have two of these issues they are soo GREAT, one I can scrapbook and the other so I can keep!haha

Love the fur in the first look!!
All the looks are great, but my favourite is the one with the wide legged trousers ;)

You are growing your hair out?? I have to tell you miss kelly that every time I see your blog, it makes me want to go even shorter because you are so gorgeous and as ive mentioned on my blog, i just find short hair so brave and gutsy. I love women who cut their hair short, who cut off their security blanket.
Some days it's difficult and I just want my long curly hair back. But on days where I know I stick out of the crowd, it makes me so damn happy I decided to chop it off.
I constantly struggle with the decision what to do... grow it out or keep it short (or shorter) and I have to tell you that you have been an inspiration. I won't hold anything against you if you grow it out, you are beautiful one way or the other. And good luck with the growing out. Altho really, you have nothing to worry about, you will look great even with that awkward in between length ;)
