{ costume of the day } beer and bobby socks

believe it or not, i wore this ensemble to a biergarten birthday party over the weekend. now that's an occassion i find dressing for difficult. on the one hand, it's a festive gathering; on the other... there's beer and sauerkraut. i can do cocktail attire ~ even black tie ~ at the drop of a hat. but what does one wear to toast steins on a saturday afternoon? it's certainly not my usual destination ~ so the only thing to do was get INTO IT.

channeling the germanic venue, i looked to lederhosen for my outfit inspiration ~ which ultimately led me to don mushroom suede boots and pouf-bauble socks. you see the connection, right? of course a grey vest and mustard trench made it all a bit more bavarian ~ and some jewelry made it more ME!

{ vintage yves saint laurent sunnies (from eBay!), erica weiner earrings, the glamourai rosé braided bib, miu miu brooch (on coat), verameat knuckle ring, vintage trench (last seen HERE, and oops ~ i haven't changed the buttons yet!), go international vest, theory shirtdress, vintage slip, anthropologie socks, coach boots, rebecca minkoff bag, random cashmere scarf. whew! }

Goodness, it looks like you've cropped your hair again-- you look wonderfully chic and androgynous, especially in the first picture! I love the mustard yellow with dark blue, too.

The mustard trench is incredible. And paired with brilliant blue, even more wonderful. Your hair is also quite fabulous. Wonder what it would look like platinum and pixie?

most beer bday parties i've attended, the attendees wore jeans and tshirts. but then, i haven't been to a beer bday party in quite some time.

Everything looks awesome as usual.... I feel like only you could rock those fantastic sunnies.

I wish I could have seen more of the dress though!
Great stuff.

Chic and casual. Very appropriate for the venue, I'd imagine.
I can so relate to your "what to wear" dilemma for such a gathering. Most occasions where I live in the Land of Fun and Sun are uber casual (flip-flops, shorts & tees). So I try to reach a semi-practical compromise in stylish but casual attire.
Anyway, well done on the ensemble!

I love the attention you pay to detail.
You have got to be one of the MOST colorful people out there, it's fantastic how you can lift spirits with color.

Haha, I actually live in Bavaria, to be precise in Munich (the Oktoberfest-town) and I´ve never been to a Beer-party of any kind..but I imagine that if you would go to a Beer-garden here (that´s where Beer-partys normally take place), you would definetely be the best dressed girl in the room/garden!

It may be hard to see in this picture, but the only reason I have ever truly craved a pixy cut is so that I would be able to wear ribbons like this:

And if anybody could pull off the ribbon look, it'd be you!

OMG I have those YSL sunnies! Mine are a different color, but I wore them when I was at SXSW http://blog.marketpublique.com/content/outfit-new-media-fashion-brunch-and-boutique-crawl-at-sxsw

I scored a couple extra pairs (deadstock) so they will be on Market Publique soon.

Love the color combo you got!
